Fatal Blow Poem by Vijay Sai R

Fatal Blow

Fluent batting
Aggressive and adventurous at times
Decimating bowlers all around
Hitting balls at will
Fours and sixers
Flowing from the blade
Though inconsequential and local
The battle being interesting
Between New South Wales and South Australia
Both teams fighting a fitting tussle
When all of a sudden
Sean Abbott ran fast
And bowled a bouncer
Shattering Phil Hughes
Taking the batsman by surprise
Hitting him around the neck
The portion uncovered by helmet
Felling him spontaneously
And later fatally too
Ending his life permanently
Just at the age of twenty five
Rocking the whole world
Safety in sport
A difficult question to answer?

Was all into this poem then tragedy struck and I was numbed by it! Such a young man with his whole life ahead of him, now gone. Really sad tale, you have done well though, great tribute to him, articulated superbly. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

U captured the tragic episode so well in poetry! Saddening but kudos still. Poor cricketeer, too young to die ah! What a fatal blunder.
