I wake alone
Only to find
A face in the mirror
And despair when I see
That the face isn't mine
A few simple lines and yet you hit it right on the mark! Well done! 10/10! !
Very poignant...This suggests de-personalization disorder DPD (I think that's what it's called) . How many times have people with low self-esteem thought of themselves as living in a dream, or looked at a mirror and said, That's not me. A very profound poem, Richard. In some way anyone and everyone can relate to your words.
Thank you so much. I think that I must be progressing as a poet when you and other fellow poets are describing my work as poignant and profound. I will research DPD because I have some very close people to me that may be suffering from it. Thanks for the info.
This may happen to anybody when he or she is bogged down by delusions or depression- a situation beautifully expressed in this small poem. Thanks, Richard.

I would like to translate this poem
Fear is a bunch of sinister shadows. A shadow has no substance, it's usually a magnified reflection of something small. That's why on facing fear squarely, we often find it inconsequential. How I wish I could convey so much in very few lines like you. Thanks for sharing Richard.
Love the way you've defined, and tackled, fear. Chinedu, your style of poetry is perfect for your subject matter. Any fewer words would be a disservice.
