Finding A Sacred Sound Poem by Smoky Hoss

Finding A Sacred Sound

Rating: 5.0

Looking for the right sound
like the purity of A.M. after midnight,
when road and wind hum along
and the heart beats just right-

There's a saint
so they say,
for every purpose
and every day,
the thing
they forget to mention
is the direction of the intention,
whether meant
to sweetly surprise
or sent
to severely chastise-

Tune the radio
to the turning of the tires,
pass phone poles
and hear static in the wires;
a voice
from a distant station,
takes to the airways
like a sacred manifestation,
it rings with the divinity
of a sweet destination,
the song breathing air
like love, with a longing inclination-

Listen now, with a heart-tuned ear to hear
beyond this moment alone,
and through the static of the night, you just might
find the song of a Saint, singing you home-

(Dedicated to the long-haul, all-night truckers out there who deliver us everything we need; who need a saint to deliver them safely home.)

Hey, Smoky! Seeing what's new from you, I just read this one—it's especially good! It's well imagined and flows well, suggesting this has been cookin' a while in your mind and heart. -Glen

WoW! ! ! ! ! You captured the moment exactly- all those long and lonely drives and chasing radio stations across the dial as your road takes you away from that good station and you must find another so you're not alone in the night... beautiful... top marks! ! ! !

Hey, Pard, this is really good! That good old A.M. radio, the rhythm of the road... Makes me think of that good old song by Kathy Matea, Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen roses. and of course all those great trucking songs by C. W. McCall...
