I've been fishing
sitting on this river bank all day,
I should be working
but I just don't see it that way -
Hay needs cutting
crows are in the corn,
my woman just called
said, bring some catfish home -
Daddy used to say
a bad day fishing beats a good day at work,
he was a wise man
and what he taught sure doesn't hurt -
So, it's fish for supper
be home later hon,
this is my job
and I'll be there when the work's all done -
I’m not a fisherman, Smoky, but I can appreciate the call to the outdoors, the solitude, that’s part of it. (See, if you’re curious, my poem Sabbath Reverie.) And I definitely relate to feeling pulled in different directions. Thank God for the wife, the excuse, that allows our hearts and minds to combine those contrary callings into one. I enjoyed this. I smiled. -Glen
Living in, and enjoying the now, should be an imperative. Hope you caught a bunch! Peace
I am sitting here grinning- - there is something about fishing that goes beyond bringing home a fish to eat- -it is a philosophical, sociological, spiritual retreat necessary for the sanity of mankind... and womankind. Poem makes me want to get some bait and head out to the Pot-Holes [lakes here in Washington state]. 10+++++++

Wonderful to read. Just sitting out there taking in the air. Nothing like it! Hope you got a catch.
