Forbidden Fruit Poem by Alexander Steen Stewart

Forbidden Fruit

Rating: 4.8

Your love is like forbidden fruit
Never to own, my love's pursuit.
With society as my cruel mistress
In formality my heart must dress.

She says that we can never be
For reasons only she can see.
If not for her you'd be on my arm
never allowed to come to harm.

And now as I bow my head
My heart feels like it's made of lead
I want to show you how I care
But I'm not sure if I can dare

To act against unwritten laws
Fight oppression for my cause
To liberate my heart for you
I only wish I knew what to do

My, My Sir Alex! Great poem for such a young man. But your feelings at this age, if I can remember back that far are very strong. Good time to write poetry I think. Give you a ten on this one. God Bless, Linda Across the sea

You might check your spelling of 'pursuit' on line 2. No offense meant. It just throws off the reader and detracts from the poem.
