Free Birds Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Free Birds

Free birds

Moring birds were chirping
They were sadly voicing
I could hear the pain
But there was no other go but to remain

We were all called slaves
Lived under the occupation of foreign forces
What was their main aim?
To keep us under heels and ownership to claim

How could birds enjoy liberty?
When we had lost sovereignty
Nothing was of our own
Including nationality known

The birds gave us warning
And alert call for winning
Freedom and liberty for all people
Who were waging endless freedom struggle

There was early sign of freedom
The joy was witnessed seldom
We were thrilled to experience
The cuckoos aired it melodious sing and dance

No one likes slavery
Even god has forbidden such treachery
No one should be kept tied
Unless they are pet and deserve to be satisfied
