Glossy Retreat Poem by Vijay Sai R

Glossy Retreat

Rating: 3.4

Wheat in water
Soaked for eight hours
Water drained
Grind to paste
With more water added
Fermented overnight
Strained and filtered
Process repeated
Until thick milk
Deposited in bottom
And poured in a pan
Water mixed
Stirred continuously
For fifty minutes
With sugar added
Cooked in low flame
A few cups of ghee
Added carefully
Cardamom sprinkled
Stop the fire
Until batter becomes
Soft and succulent
Unattached in pan
Velvety in touch
Melting in mouth
Hot and sweet
A handful of dollops
So hard to resist
Craves you for more
Tirunelveli halwa
Everyone's delight
Glossy retreat
Tamilnadu's pride

As I adore Indian food this poem really made my mouth water! It reminded me of a film I once saw in which Mexican food was lovingly prepared by a girl for her boyfriend. The title in Spanish was Como Agua Para Chocolate and I recommend it. Congratulations on this poem. The word dollop shows that you have a great command of English vocabulary.

Cooked up to perfection. Robert said it all. I myself have indian blood in me and I adore indian food... feel thirsty now... a mango lassi should do it... shouldn't it?
