Gold Standard, A Fat Man's Toast Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Gold Standard, A Fat Man's Toast

Rating: 5.0

Coffers spilling with gold jewels and jade—
With precious pearls and treasure deeply laid,
When loafs of bread maketh far better aid—
If hungry maws happy were to be made.
Mankind is lost as in pursuit of gold—
Value weighing way ‘bove what price tags post—
Its mettle cost multiplied manifold,
Gold standard's reduced to a fat man's toast.
And greed for gold me seems is scarce for gold,
Nor silver that not enough has glittered,
‘Tis promise vague that precious metals hold—
A promise posted, not since delivered.
Pity be to man of material mould,
Hail to him who wants his dreams gleam like gold.

Greed always provokes thought and diverts attention of a person in diverse direction. Spilling gold and getting every pearl of this becomes motive of a greedy person. This poem is amazingly drafted and wisely shared here...10
