Ground Control Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Ground Control

The resistance in the air increases
The faster we go.
The wings lift in motion.
Accelerating upward, east of my dreams
In the mountains with you.
The auto pilot kicks in.
Merely a drift. In my thoughts of you.
the plane levels,
Above the ground from reality.
My eyes close, lost in thought.
Passing through the puddle of clouds.
As this vessel glides left, then right.
Weaving In and out,
In large looming circles as the nose dives down
Then brings itself back up.
Leaving behind a stream of smoke in the horizon.
blending with the clouds.
Lifting the cargo of thought
As eyes stare out the window.
The little boy waves the plane round and round in the air.
making giant looming circles, imagining taking flight with each step he takes
Vrooming and shooshing with his mouth
As I sit and laugh, watching him play.
lost in a day dream with thoughts of you
