Happily Ever After Poem by Paula Glynn

Happily Ever After

Like a nursery rhyme I want to live happily ever after,
To not have my true love chained to a prison wall,
As my father leaves me alone in the tower,
Like a teenager who has disobeyed her parents.

I want to live happily ever after,
And have my parents accept my boyfriend,
For he is my true love, he matters everything to me,
And I shall be with him forever.

I talk to my father, and like the princess,
Her prince has been taken out of the prison cell,
And has been forgiven to live with the beautiful princess,
And I shall be that princess: my wedding dress,
White and overflowing, the ceremony with many flowers,
And a beautiful cake, made by experts,
And the guests dry their eyes as I kiss my husband.

It has been a beautiful ceremony as we exchange rings,
And everybody now knows we belong together,
I know our love is special, something to cherish and treasure,
For this love brings so much warmth and pleasure,
And I always knew he was right for me,
I always knew we belonged in each other's hearts,
As sure as the sun sets and the moon rises.
