Happy Child Poem by shakil ahmed

Happy Child

Rating: 4.0

Happy Child

Happy child, happy child
Where do you go?
Carrying a bag on your back
Like a lizard you walk.
You go alone like a grown up
But still you are a little girl.
Fresh morning air flaps
Your beautiful golden curl.
Wearing light flecked skirt
You amble straight on your way,
Reaching the school at right time
Straight away you join to pray.
When the school breaks,
After the day-long lesson
In quick feet you return home,
Leaving aside your friends commotion
Evening is full with ecstasy and frolic
Walking in the garden for sometime,
Return home after sunset.
Night begins with reading of rhyme
Tensions of life don’t come
In your way like demonic monster,
Thorns and cuts don’t retard
Your way and invite terrible disaster.
Grown ups are found moaning here
Because of life’s fret and fever
Ghostly shadows don’t hunt you
To snatch your peaceful slumber.

Happy child, happy child
You remain happy forever and ever
You remain far away
From life’s fret and fever.
