Historic Event Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Historic Event

A beast unleashed.
With a history known,
Of shown destruction.
Although cheered in appearances made.
Declaring to have been victimized.
By those misunderstanding,
Good intentions they despise.
Still remains the beast.
Given forgiveness and empathy.
While allowed to continue and destroy,
Those who object to the effectiveness...
Of how their lives,
Once to witness to be of quality.
Now ruined before their eyes.
Yet...
Expected like the others,
To maintain their loyality.
Despite what they see to disbelieve.
Will ultimately benefit,
With a chaos this beast behind leaves.

"Why have they become hypnotized,
By this monster who lies? "

-It is just a disguise.
And besides...
You must admit,
The entertainment is priceless.
And the performance?
Undeniably exquisite.-

"But...
What about our lives? "

-A little disaster here.
A little disaster there.
Who really cares.
We are in the midst,
Of witnessing nothing before like this.
Get with the program.
And accept this historic event.-
