Historic Moment Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Historic Moment

For the first time,
In the 'Me First' feeding,
Of greed and selfishness.
Comes to many the witnessing,
Many people in droves...
Actually giving to pay,
Their undivided attention to listen.
Shocking both the young,
And those much older.
Producing an effect some suspect,
Created by a death threatening virus.

Some are seen falling to their knees.
Feeling blessed to be alive to observe,
How God works...
In the most mysterious of ways.

"What has happened to the people?
They are listening attentively.
Gang members.
Racists.
Conflict and division motivators.
Pretention instigators.
Receivers and liars.
Are all together.
What miracle is this? ! "

It has to be the 'Convid-19'.
The corona virus?

"A VIRUS has cause this event?
It has to be extremely serious.
To prevent the people,
From living their 'normal' lives."

And...
Check it out.
It has to be painful for them too!

"Why do you say that? "

They've been told they should practice,
Social distancing from each other.
Taking away their enjoyment,
To express their bigotry and hatred.
And this has to be devastating for them.
What are you doing?
Why are you using your cellphone,
To videotape this?

"I've got to.
You don't understand.
I want to remember this.
As the most historic moment,
I will ever have to capture again...
In my lifetime."
