poor people are around us
some close their eyes
turn their backs on them
act suprise
young or old
poor and homeless
no meds or doctors
are their lives useless
some are drug addicts
some mentally ill
others down on luck
any hope for them still
most do not see them
they are still here
dying alone
does anyone care
i always liked George Carlin's approach to homelessness. first off they are not homeless, anywhere you hang your hat is home. they are houseless! at least then it identifies them to more of an appropriate association to thier actually problem. and funny to think about the difference between the words homeless and houseless.
