I Do Not Like War Poem by Randy McClave

I Do Not Like War

Rating: 5.0

Unlike others I do not like war
I do not like it's romance or the blood or gore,
I do not like the bragging of the moments of glory
And I do not like its suffering, in any song or story,
I just do not like war.

I do not want to hear about it any more
Whether in the paper, or from people I hear in the store,
I do not want to hear about the loss of life
Especially the sadness from a Soldier's child or wife,
I just do not like war.

I do not want to hear about a battle's roar
Or how many other armies a country can or did deplore,
I don't care about the medals upon anyone's chest
Or the uniform a soldier wears when he is full dressed,
I just do not like war.

I do not wish for a war's sequel or encore
To think about it I would rather join the peace corps,
If I were in a battle I would not ever fight
And to praise or to accept it, I will not ever recite,
I just do not like war.

A perceptive write beautifully crafted. Yes, we do not like war. Yet, if a defensive war, we have to take our stand to maintain the preservation of a country and its citizens. A great piece.10
