I Don'T Know If You'Re Alive Or Dead Poem by Anna Akhmatova

I Don'T Know If You'Re Alive Or Dead

Rating: 3.0

I don't know if you're alive or dead.
Can you on earth be sought,
Or only when the sunsets fade
Be mourned serenely in my thought?

All is for you: the daily prayer,
The sleepless heat at night,
And of my verses, the white
Flock, and of my eyes, the blue fire.

No-one was more cherished, no-one tortured
Me more, not
Even the one who betrayed me to torture,
Not even the one who caressed me and forgot.

(3) I would have liked her to experience for herself that her poems are again printed and praised, especially by the youth. I rather think she didn't run away because of her son. He was only put in jail, but not murdered.

(2) at the time I have the pleasure to read here a poem by a great poetess of all time, now her poems are printed and reprinted again. She has become immortal, too bad she's dead now,

(2) I'm not saying the only one, who has to write so many different poems because she had not fled to abroad as Russia was against every royal blood

(1) My greatest respect for the great late Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova, this poem is short but contains overflowing emotions because she has experienced these emotions all her poetic life. Imagine she was one of the few,
