I'Ll Sing Sweet Lullaby For You Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

I'Ll Sing Sweet Lullaby For You

Rating: 5.0

I'll sing sweet lullaby for you
Getting an optimistic approach started
How the soul feels like a dried leaf
Many sparkling eyes of poor children
Ask us for mere favors
If sympathy is the food of humanity
So what's the light of tender caresses?

(dedicated to a great poet, Adrienne Rich)

Equality at the material level can never be achieved. Even if we could achieve it, one imbalance would be there - people's demands would vary. Physical demands and mental demands are very diverse in this world and so, this kind of a situation would certainly exist. A rich man would be leading a beggarly life. A beggar may be quite happy in his own way. What does it show? What we can do is only this - act according to our conscience and leave the rest without any comment. Love and charity is the very core of our heart and there will be a world ready to help the poor in every way. We may say that it is making the poor further lazy. Whatever can be the interpretation, charity will continue in its own fashion because we can't overlook the whisperings of our heart. Let us do everything with a prayful feeling. This is important. If all of us have this feeling, certainly the situation will improve.
