I Love Me Most Poem by Madathil Rajendran Nair

I Love Me Most

Rating: 5.0

I am well off
So to say
Have houses, land and cars
Yet, I am insecure
Ridden by fear
I crave to be as affluent
As the legendary Bill Gates

So be it said dear God
I give you the body of Gates
With much more wealth than he has

No, no, not his frame
I would like to retain mine
Who knows his medical history
The ailments that plague his body

That is a problem, buddy
Either you have his body
Or languish in your current outfit
With its ongoing inadequate limits

No, no, I want to remain
In my present frame
Yet, have all the riches that Gates
So famously navigates

Why is it so, son?
I gave you what you want
Don't be foolish
Accept my offer for your wish

Or as an alternative
Consider the frame
Of a legend of the Indian screen
Who commands name and fame
Riches as much as you can imagine

No, no, I know the guy you mean
The fellow is lanky, lean
Sports a beard I don't like
He is old, his breath spasmodic
Has several health issues
Known and reported in the press

May be, I can have his baritone
The riches he commands
But never that mortal frame
When I am just fifty
Why go for mid-seventies?

Why is it so, dear idiot?
Why are you so adamant
So foolishly fastidious
About your body that in course
Would decay like anyone else's
When I am offering you treasures?

Lord, it is so because
I love myself more
Than anything else in this world
Just let me keep my frame
But make me taller and fairer
Repair my apish jaw
Line up my zig-zag teeth
Give me jasmine breath
Like in tooth paste ads
So the girls will swoon
Run after me
With their bathrobes loose

Put them with me in a bed
Of roses with my libido strong
With all the wealth of the guys you named
Stashed in my several bank accounts

Ha, ha, nothing more, nothing more
I just want to be me
Free with no strings tied
Like an eagle that soars the skies
Unbridled without worries
In my refurbished outfit
Because I do love me most

A beautiful poem. Food for thought. Every person has his or her own individuality to which he clings on irrespective of all other things.

We are never happy with what we have and crave for more! But a wise man knows that wealth and other worldly possessions will only tether him to peg, restricting his free movement! He needs just enough to live on in peace and joy! A poem which makes us sit and think!

Oh, how you pinned the foibles of mankind with this character poem! We want wealth, we want better looks, we want attention from the other gender, we want fame- - -but we don't want to give up a bit of our precious self to have it. We must seem like the youngest of doddering toddlers, the most discontented of gassy babies. God has spread a banquet before all of us- -and we are not content with our lot at all....because we love ourselves most! ! ! Excellent! ! ! 10++++++++++++++++

One wants to be oneself with everything else added. These thoughts may crawl into the mind of everyone at one stage or other. Thinking further I feel if one wants to be oneself that is what one will be with nothing else. A thought provoking poem to provide encouragement to feel good about one's own state.

You said: Thinking further I feel if one wants to be oneself that is what one will be with nothing else. What a wonderful observation! That is Advaita which is very close to my heart. Thanks Ji!

Girls will swoon and run after you in robes loose - what a teenage Dream! Love for yourself you see as love to your passions. Is it the final and deepest stage of yourself? Is it actually the true love? May be your ego deserves 1000 gopis of Krishna who symbolize human souls?

Many men run after wealth in a hope to get peace, name and fame but instead of it they bridled by wealth. They are not actually happy as wealth creates fastidious attitude, craving and anxieties. We must satisfy within us and be an eagle that soars the skies unbridled without worries. Some lines may be quoted here... Ha, ha, nothing more, nothing more I just want to be me Free with no strings tied Like an eagle that soars the skies Unbridled without worries In my refurbished outfit Because I do love me most. Thanks sir.
