I Loved How He Loved Me - Poem by Elisabeth Anne Wingle

Wake up, Sleeping Beauty
There's no prince to be found.
I've searched and I've searched
In this high, towered town.

I loved how he loved me
I loved how he'd clown

I thought that I'd found him,
Made me weak in the knees.
He had pretty manners,
Said Thank-you and Please.

I loved how he loved me
I love how he teased

Like a desert mirage,
He was not what he seemed.
He broke my heart slowly
Then watched as I screamed

I loved how he loved me
I hated his schemes

He had not a penny
Not a job, car or house
He had only one asset,
A beautiful young spouse

He never loved me
I hate that I cared

some day someone will wake up and cherish Sleeping Beauty.
It's a very sad and fine poem. Sleeping Beauty deserved far better than she got.
    May you find happiness.
Well you can have another 10 to be going on with! So cheer up.
