I Once Saw Death Poem by Juan Olivarez

I Once Saw Death

Rating: 5.0

I once saw death, on a mountain high,
Once in the desert down below.
I saw him coming in the changing sky,
As a monster wind did blow.

Death smiled at me so many times,
And then just turned away.
There was no warning and no ghostly chimes,
I've seen him in both night and day.

I saw him close and yet I knew,
He was not there for me.
Something in his manners gave me a clue,
But not something I could see.

And yet I know I'm not immune,
That I would never think.
He'll come again midnight or noon,
Once my armor starts to chink.

Deep words Juan. We all have to die one day

Feelings of morbidity assail us all from time to time. That's why I try to act stupidly at least once a day. Sometimes I succeed even when I'm not trying!

Morbid but definitely cutting. It intensity and universal message effectively touches the reader's mind and leaves him thinking. This is a really good write!
