As the years get shorter
The memories are getting lost
I remember you, pint sized but mighty
You body-slammed us, every time
We would try to get away
And spank us with a slipper or a meat tenderizer
Yr eyes were cold and black
But returned after an hour, we apologise
We would laugh and hug like we were in great war
And our arguement would be a distance memory
Until we gather around on an occasion
Laughing on how stupid it was
I fear you more than the authorities
That's why I don't have a criminal record
But I know you were trying to get me on the right path
I thank you, Mum
For loving me the best you can

I know you were trying to get me on the right path, Love can bring out actions that, , , well least we know it's out of Love... My Mom had a paddle that said the little dear with the bear behind.
A very touching tribute to your beloved mother. So heartfelt and beautifully expressed. ' I fear you more than the authorities'.....what a unique and honest line of an amazing poem. To my favorites.
2) Thank You, LeeAnn for reinforcing for me the good morals and values that my parents had instilled in me.

A very heart-warming tribute to your mother whom you had truly loved. Reminded me of the corporal punishment that I had received from my parents. And just like you...no criminal record!
