Identity Fraud Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Identity Fraud

A sense of danger loomed.
His knees buckled.
Aggravated assault
Assault with a deadly weapon, the pounding that insisted in his chest
A malicious thought pattern of guilt.
Fabricated words in random bursts of contempt.
Reading back his confession,
His eyes connected with the floor
Wishing these moments would pass faster.
A reasonable thought without a single doubt.
The future no longer mattered.
The Solicitation of lips now dry.
Quick glances at the judge as his soul shook inside his skin.
Awaiting the verdict
A product of unwanted contact
He reacted the only way he knew how.
Paranoid he watched every motion
Knowing that they knew his secret.
The more he stopped his fidgeting the more his thirst grew.
Obscene, to reach for a glass and fill it in front of naked eyes.
Would he pour it to slow, to fast.
He held fast to innocent thoughts, but none came.
An exploitation of his former self
Not knowing how to act, how to think
Depicting the way he felt now on trial
Silent, not a single word uttered
As their words became shorter.
He was granted life in the courtship of her anger
It hurt for his eyes to connect with her
The very thought rendered a release of paraphernalia
Wrists cut from how tight the handcuffs were
They arrested him for the laughter of her tears
