In Love With A Stranger Poem by Jeri Martindale

In Love With A Stranger

Please come back to me...

I look into those blue eyes, it is not you that I see.
Someone else has taken over your soul and now instead staring back at me;
A stanger in your body, sufficating the man that I married, the man of my dreams.

Please come back to me...

What has this fog that keeps lingering been leading you to believe,
about yourself all alone, about me?
About our life together, our long history?

Please come back to me...

Reach your hand out to me, grab a hold of mine.
It's been here so long my arm has grown tired.
I don't think I can hold it out much longer.
Still waiting for the warmth of your skin,
missing that warm feeling my heart gets when you hold my hand.

Please come back to me...

The man that I married long ago,
who when I looked into his eyes shinned like diamonds in the sky, such gleaming eyes that seemed to be singing a mysterious lullabye.
I miss those eyes!
I still hear that mealody in my mind,
although I have not heard it coming from you in such a long, long time; why?

Please come back to me...

A stranger you are to me,
a stranger you have made me, true?
I have been here all along trying to touch you, to hold you, to please you.
Being your wife, your soul mate, the mother that you wanted for our children, the person you molded me into.
I am still me!
Look into my eyes; can't you see, believe?

Please come back to me I plead! No... Screams!

Now I have no other choice,
Stranger, with you I can no longer be.
Out the door I walk, time to leave...?
Free, time to breathe.?
With tears in my eyes, it is really hard to see;
Wait, was that you I just heard screaming out for me?
Is it really to late I wonder
As my heart tells me, it is not over!
