In Memory Of A Dark Day Poem by Nosheen Irfan

In Memory Of A Dark Day

Rating: 5.0

Reeking of blood
December haunts
Cold wind sighs
Oh what loss!
Misty dawns bring
The cries of children
Still loud and clear
Tearing at hearts
Grief echoes
Through the years
Memories of the dead
Fade but never die
Though life goes on
Happiness seems a lie
Oh what day that was
It left many scars
Faces full of laughter
Frozen into eternity
Scattered on the floor
The bullet-riddled bodies
What shame, what cruelty!

A powerful poem Nosheen. I wish to God we did not have to mark these anniversaries.

Hi Nosheen, Memories do haunt us. I still remember the news headlines and photographs carried in the newspapers, channels, Aakashvani.. Very harsh times. It breaks our hearts to read your lines. Can't think how the parents of the innocent little ones live along.. Hope Allah gives them strength to endure..

Truly, grief echoes through the years. Poignant, tragic, and compelling writing; you have captured the pain and loss and senselessness of it all. We must all cry out against such horror and hateful violence. Well done, good poet.

It haunts us like a nightmare! What did those innocents do as to invite such a tragic fate.... we still keep wondering! Let their parents get healed of the bleeding wounds inside them! A poignant write, pulling hard at the heart strings, Nosheen!
