Innocence...Gone Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Innocence...Gone

Rating: 5.0

The playgrounds are barren now
The trees have lost their zest for life
Their colorful leaves buried long ago
The sand in the sandbox is frozen
Like the lost and forgotten smiles
Of innocent youth in the art of play
Ice melting on metal slides to the ground
A majestic wind swings metal and wood
Into a storm-threatening vengeful sky
Wind subsiding merrily-go-roundly
Spirited play at work in the minds
Of those grieving murder of life
Cries stifled as the wind picks up
White blank sheets of paper
Hanging in mid-air
Miraculously transformed
Angelic imagery blinding
Tears overflowing kneeling and praying
God's brethren cursing for their loss and agony

God responding...angel flying away

I'm so happy that you feel that way about this poem. Anjandev, this is a true story about a little girl who was abducted and killed. I had organized a benefit concert to help her parents in dealing with their grief. This poem was shared with them and others that same evening.
