Insanity Poem by Sandra Feldman

Insanity

Rating: 5.0

They have no dignity,
They have no pride,
Their only in it,
For the ride,
And if you let them
They'll take your hide.

'I'm running here,
I'm running there,
But hey, don't call me,
I just don't care,
I am the shadow,
Of what I should be,
If you are decent,
Don't be like me'

Now,
When you think of it
How can it be?
That we are governed,
By Insanity!

I like the way the second stanza is the voice itself of one of these scoundrels who displays no awareness of his corruption and is irritated - that's it! He has no personality beyond coveting his position, no passion, no love, no burning issues. Just the power he jealously grips. In a pinch, confronted by someone with the energy of life, with a sense of meaning and purpose, this non-entity would simply dissolve.

This election- alas! But this, too, shall pass! Long live the Republic- and her fervent advocate- Sandra the Magnificent!

Insanity is an illusion of reason in the minds of those who think they are reasonable. Cheers to an inspiring wonderful poem.
