Jesus Wept For Me Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Jesus Wept For Me

I still remember when the world was restless and cold
As I laid for a slumber within the walls of death.
It was when my spirit has no dream for it to hold
And my dying soul was gone without the Living Breath.

Yes, I cursed my days and blamed the heavens for the night
Because I believed a lie that I live this world alone
As inspiration becomes darker each time I write
The words of my heart scribed in the place where I was thrown.

Then my intentions were plotted in vain for escape
But I found the labyrinth’s puzzle will never end.
For even though deep down should I continue to scrape,
Hell is full but all its lusts cannot give you a friend.

I became cynical in the talks of love and life,
For there will always be a hole you cannot explain.
Death was rampant because of the sinner’s endless strife
‘Til all of a sudden he becomes a nest of pain.

But then came this Person who told me to come forward
And His voice echoed through the cave I carved with my hands.
Then I asked, is this the One to save a life that’s marred?
Can this be the Person that answers and understands?

For I thought a lonely man I was supposed to live
And wondered if all this while I will never be kept.
But despite of everything, now I want to believe
Because Jesus was there throughout for me and He wept.
