Just Think About It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Just Think About It

Just think about it.
Stop for a moment.
To imagine if you can,
The reality of this:

If these times we now live,
Became to live them to believe...
Them to be sad and pitiful.
To live them threatened,
By a pandemic diseasing...
With death to come for many,
Left to leave this witnessed to see.

And...
Done with a doing.
That overwhelmingly effected,
Every aspect and quality...
Of what had been once a normal life.
Yet people protested,
Their entitlements to get...
They had to temporarily sacrifice.
Even in the midst of warnings.
The consciousness of the people,
Seem to freeze.
Thicker than mountains covered in ice!

And...
Imagine if you can.
More demanded and could not accept,
Protecting themselves...
Friends, relatives, neighbors or others.
By wearing a simple mask.
With a keeping a social distance.
Many were told, bought and were sold,
That this to do...
Would prove them to be unpatriotic.
Or a liberal socialist.
Attempting to prevent,
Their right to kill...
Themselves and the ones they loved too!

And imagine this.
Suppose there were just a few.
With money, status and prestige.
Actually thought themselves,
Rulers who could and can control...
The entire population of the World.
For the purpose to satisfy,
Attention to get...
From a production of a 'Reality TV' show!
Leaving humanity to benefit.
And continue to exist being captivated.

Now...
Let me ask you this:
Would that be foolish?
Stupid?
Or just insane?

"Uh...
I can't imagine that!
And thank God,
I don't have to either."
