Kerala Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Kerala

Rating: 5.0

Log batate isko utsav rooh ka
Kerala jahan tumhein jana zaroor hain
Shayad ek din main bhi jaaun is yatra pe
Aur is sundarta ko khojun mere dil se

Sadhana karun dhalte chai ke yeh baganom mein
Aisee shant bhumi jaham rehain hariyali panktiyon mein
Sagar ghoom ke aaum ek nauka mein
Jaham dubte suraj mann ko mugdh karein

Ek nauka ghar me baith mauj udhaun sagar ka
Nariyal ke pedon ka katar dekhum peechhe hat-te huye
Jangal ke raaston se ghoomte firte chalte jaaun
Dharti Ke yah garmeel jo jannat mein

Kinara samundar kajo behadaakarshaklagta hai
Main jald hi is yatra par jaun, aisa lagta hai
Aur is shaandar prakritik sundarta mein
Sochti hum, madhumaas dubaara manaum.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is Hindi translation of the poem 'Kerala' by Sister Frances. Although it is postedby me, the translation is actually done by Ms Kavita Singh. I have just given some finishing touches. It was not a thing easy to do, as it may look. This poem of Frances was real tough. Kavita has done a wonderful work. I thank her profusely and congratulate her for the excellent rendering.

Hi Bharati, So nice of you to read this translation of the exquisite poem by Frances. Her poem is so beautifully rendered, that I was emancipated, thrilled. On my request, Kavita did a beautiful translation in Hindi. I just helped her out a little here or there. A finishing touch or something like that. It is a matter of contention, whether I have been successful in the translation, in capturing the beauty of Frances' poem; I do not consider my rendering half that good. But Bharati, your words make my day. I know I have to improve a lot. That I will do, with your help and blessings. Thank you.

Hello My Dear Fellow Poets, As you are no longer able to read the original poem by Frances on ph, I post it here. I believe, I have her permission to do so. Kerala - Poem by Sister Frances They call it a treat for your soul Kerala is the place you should go Perhaps one day I'll come visit And discover the beauty you know Meditate in tea gardens on rolling slopes A serene land with rows of greenery Or go cruise on the water in a ferry While the sun sets that sounds merry Sit on a house boat gazing on backwaters Watching banks of palm trees go by Wander through jungle pathways It's a heavenly tropical paradise The beaches look pretty awesome I think I need to go visit soon With such stunning natural beauty I am thinking a second honeymoon ****

Hi, my friend. You asked if I have read this but although I found the words Log, din, is, mere, me, and hum to be English words I could not read the rest because my dear friend I cannot speak or read Hindi which looks like a lovely language. Thank you, though, for thinking of my delight had I been able to read it..
