Parashurama!
Powerful sage with an axe as his weapon,
Prone to acute anger at the slightest mistake,
In a fit of impulse and rage, kills his own mother.
Penitent for his action,
Punishes himself through austerity,
Penance on Lord Vishnu.
For a period that extended years of contemplation!
Lord Vishnu pleased with his meditation,
Bestowed on him a boon of his choice;
Parashurama requested for a piece of fertile land!
Lord retrieved from the sea,
A strip of land so enchanting,
With rivers, hills, flowers, and coconut trees.
The sage thanked the Lord for this wonderful gift,
And settled down in this place chosen by the God Himself!
The great sage, Parasurama wadbkessed, by Lord Vishnu with a land retrieved fron the sea, with flowers, coconut trees, etc. Thanks for the informative poem.
The legend imparts wisdom and a great lesson in life. Kerala is indeed a beautiful place, as enchanting and magical as the sea itself.
