Steel cages are these shores

gloomy wardens are

the waves of the sea

Hear! How the birds

are mocking me

so sure of their freedom

Left alone...

bitter water comes out

from the springs

And the air

full of poison it is

Tormented by the sun I am

All the flowers

spitting their hideous colours

What am I waiting for?

Nothing!

Oh! Cain, my brother

Was this your exile place?


Ατσάλινα κελιά οι ακτές

Φύλακες αγέλαστοι

της θάλασσας τα κύματα

Άκου! Πώς τα πουλιά

με περιγελούν

τόσο βέβαια για τη δική τους λευτεριά

Μόνος...

πικρό νερό αναβλύζει

από τούτες τις πηγές

Κι ο αγέρας

δηλητήρια γεμάτος

Ο ήλιος βασανιστής μου είναι

Όλα τα λουλούδια

φτύνουν τα απαίσια χρώματά τους

Τι περιμένω; Τίποτα!

Ω! Κάιν αδελφέ μου!

Να 'ταν αυτός ο τόπος εξορίας σου;
