O! You, Argent Beauty!
On nights like these,
You come closer than any other nights;
In your plenitude,
Close...so close...
Are you curious
About lovers' whispers
In your presence?
Are you aware of me in my solitude...
Or the effect of your mysterious radiance,
In young hearts ardent with love?
O! La Luna, La Luna...
Nocturnal tempter amongst constellations:
Anima brightens on nights like these!
I will wait for you tomorrow night:
You...lucent and impassive Face,
So distant...but O! So alive!
For you bring life to my spirit
And I feel Life—alive.
Wonderful ode. Moonlight pouring sublime emotions into the heart and soul of the poet
your words humble the heart.... the divinely pure and sensuous nature displayed in this poem causes any further comment to be inadequate...
I've already this poem to my list. I absolutely love it, and love means in its totality as well as details. I really like the way the speaker is talking about the moon as a universal symbol of love and is throwing out a wide net to pull in all suffering and triumphant lovers. Love Poems can unpleasantly egoistic, this one, no, it reaches out and summons the moon's grace for us all. That said, it s also a very persuasive poem, as is proven by my immediately putting it on my list. I find the formal rather than colloquial language in the poem pitch-perfect. I just can't stop saying how much pleasure it has given me! The adjective PLENA is very appropriate.
΄Ομορφο ποίημα, σκέφτομαι να το μεταφράσω στα ελληνικά.
