Laid To Rest Poem by kimber harrison

Laid To Rest

Rating: 5.0

We take from God,
the gifts he gives,
and give nothing in return.
Not a prayer of thanks,
or even thoughts of gratitude can be heard.

We say we deserve all we have,
that we didn't do anything wrong
Have never killed and rarely swear.
Who has the right to judge where we belong?

But each sin,
each stupid, easily avoided mistake,
matters to someone,
whether Holy or human,
someone's heart, someday will break.

And for what?
Five minutes of pleasure?
Wealth? Fame?
Does rebelion spur us on?
Does a cold heart in each person lay?

What are the anwsers?
What will stop the tears?
I have searched,
and looked.
And torn my mind apart.
Trying to find the peace,
that I want in my heart.

And how simple it would have been,
for me to simply see.
That in the church,
the House of God,
are the anwsers that I seek...
