Last Day - Poem by Travis J Shingledecker

I layed on my back in the middle of the road.
Two friends watched from a distance
One friend joined my innocence

I layed on my back in the middle of the night
Placing my body on cold pavement
Gave my drunkin state inpowerment

I layed on my back in the streets of town
My mind was stronge and carefree
My body was starting to agree

I layed on my back
This is my last turn tonight
Your turn is insight

I layed on my back
Driver drifts to the seperation strip
I felt my body rip and split

I stayed on my back in the middle of the road
Two friends rush to my side
One friend holds me while i die

I stayed on my back in the middle of the night
Cold pavement steamed my waste
Looks like i played in the wrong place

I stayed on my back in the streets of town
A blood stained sheet hides my vision
I regrete my decision

I stayed on my back
My turn gave me no more worries
Make your turn a book full of stories

I stayed on my back
Forever in your heart i shall stay
I'll stand with you everyday

I stayed on my back
The day is October 16 1993
This is the last day for me
