Late Friday Night Poem by Sally Plumb Plumb

Late Friday Night

Rating: 4.8

When your guts
are raw with waiting
and your head
is full of s**t...
take a gin and tonic
and relax a little bit.

When the time
rolls onforever
and you're tired
that you're alone...
take a gin and tonic
and you'll be a no go zone.

To be awake
'til morning
not knowing
what to think...
take a gin and tonic
and sod the missing link.

Trebles, of course.

Prefer whisky and ginger myself, but get the point - good one Sally. Bottoms up! ! !

This fun verse belies a certain sadness delicately concealed, and delivers a drinking poem of gentle and relaxed defiance to soothe certain disappointments alluded to. Cheers!

Maybe a nice cup of very hot chamomile tea, steeped extra long. I do like your poem! !

Blitz the blues with a nip or two and sod the missing link...I'll drink to that and its humour...regards

Thanks Sally. Like all good laughs your gin has in it a dropp of sorrow. (If dropp has 2 p's in it, that's the Poemhunter computer's equivalent of a double...)
