Late Night Picture Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Late Night Picture

Don't make me sleep on the couch,
Purple rain is playing on the television again,
Regular Cable with limited interruption,
Followed by the endless late night barrage of infomercials,
Dont make me sleep on the couch, alone,
Far from the touch of your lips,
The marriage thats begun with the yearning of each others eyes,
Could it be more obvious,
The santified joy that spreads itself through the shiver of bumps that caress our skin,
Don't tease me in such a way,
Dont let your perfume go without reason to linger,
A simple touch of the senses,
A purpose to confess,
Every reason possible to drive a sane man to the brink of insanity,
What Circumstance could justify such a cruel unusual punishment,
Tossing and turning without the warmth of another,
Anything else could surffice but this,
This unspeakable tragedy,
Think of the ending of the movie,
The elastic joy of having someone you love back in your arms,
Dont make me sleep on the couch,
