Alone,
I'm the solitaire person at the town's artifical pond
Early in morning, I have come to learn to skate
With my brand new skate
As I put them on, the flashback memories
Comes flooding into my mind
But the memory that keeps telling me
To go on is the one with you
How you laughed with yr constant laugh
Picking me up
And falling yourself in the process
I took baby steps on the ice- and fell
Got slowly back up and continued on
Took more baby steps and glided beautifully
As though, I was a professional
Then, tried to stop and fell on my face
I smiled because I almost had it
Got up once more
And slowly went across the pond
I turned around and found you
Clapping with a big smile on yr face
I can tell you were proud
And because of you, the memories
Of embarrassment disappeared
Ah yes! I remember those good old days. Lee Ann, thank you so much for triggering those memories. What a wonderful poem!
I never could skate very well. I fell through the ice once when I thought it was thick enough, but it wasn't. Luckily, the water was only up to my knees, but, oh, was it cold!
So nice, I've never skated, I could see you skating gracefully.

Like Kim, skating was something I wasn't fit for, but reading this makes me feel its something to try on my life's bucket list. I love this poem because it is the triumph of persistence and determination. What beautiful memory you have, I love reading about the experiences of others it makes me feel connected. Great work Lee-Ann!
