Lebaran Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Lebaran

Rating: 5.0

Lebaran AKA Hari Raya Idul Fitri AKA Sugar Fest

Eid is celebrated at the end of Lent or also called Ramadan,

when I still lived in Jakarta, I didn't know the name of sugar fest,
in Indonesia it is Lebaran or Hari Raya Idul Fitri.

The name Sugar Fest is a nice association with all things sweet.
I only know this name when I lived in the Netherlands.

Hari Raya Idul Fitri or Lebaran is celebrated with all kinds of special dishes, ketupat with coconut dishes usually with chicken meat and other delicacies served especially for this day.

We also have the month of Ramadan when we fast. Then we celebrate Eid festival. I wasn't familiar with the Indonesian terminology. Thanks dear for giving information.
