Let Him Kiss Me With The Kisses Of His Mouth. Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

Let Him Kiss Me With The Kisses Of His Mouth.

Rating: 5.0

Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth.
It is the soul thirsting for God.
She is held by the bond of love to Him.
Of all the sentiments of nature
this love is the most excellent.
She kisses Him who is the principle
and fountain of love - God.

Are there any expressions equally sweet
to signify the mutual affection
between God and the soul?

They have one inheritance,
one dwelling place,
and they are one flesh.

So the soul is the Bride.
and the Bridegroom, God

(From the Holy Bible
Song of Solomon 1: 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth)

Hi, Tony! Again, wanting to find something uplifting in PH, I looked to your poems and came on this one. I confess that an initial reaction to this sensual title and image was that it was a bit peculiar. Generally speaking I understand Song of Songs as an expression of romantic love between a man and woman. However, I then thought of the injuction from Psalm 34, Taste and see that God is good. Tasting, putting something in one's mouth, is no less intmate than kissing or being kissed. We are called to know God in the sense meant in the books of the Jewish bible- with all of our being. Thank you once again for the opportunity to reflect on the most important things. Be blessed! Glen
