Little Orphan Girl Poem by Amanda Lukas

Little Orphan Girl

Rating: 5.0

I slip into shadows
to hide my eyes.
I can't ever allow myself
to let them see me cry.
And I find it's much less complicated
to cry when I'm alone
then trying to explain to them
when the reasons I don't know.

Momma said it's okay to cry,
but the others never understood
and I cry all alone at night
just like Momma always would.

I never show my fears to them.
I keep 'em closed in tight.
Momma said 'don't ask for pity'
and Momma taught me right.

I cry alone up in my room,
and no one notices.
I cry for home and Momma's arms,
and wish on stars for happiness.
