This poem is by a poet completely free of guile and vanity. If she were a colleague at work, she would be reliable and pleasant. If she were a friend, she would be a delight to spend time with and also someone to confide in. If she were a sister, she would develop a life-long closeness as a sibling. But she is a free person offering a love relationship. What a blessing to the man she has freely chosen. If he has achieved maturity and displays similar virtues, this is romantic love of the highest quality. Need I add it has every hallmark of a relationship that will grow and flower over time? Your poem expresses idealism and practicality in equal measures.
