Mid-morning. Monday. College campus.
Spring semester done.
Few are here
with all its trees, bushes, flowers
besides the maintenance crew.
The walkers, cyclists, skateboarders
all but gone.
Right in the middle of a path
a turtle pauses.
And there! sunlight on his shell
another plodding through thick grass.
And in the grassy slopes around the pond
ducks and geese
can sun and preen untroubled.
Lovely, Glen! I know that feeling quite well. It seems you have an affinity for turtles...
hey, laurie! i just noticed this comment of yours. i thought i had responded already. turtles are cool, but their appearances to me and in my poems were accidental- or serendipitous. thank you, as always, for reading and commenting. i appreciate it. -glen
A fine descriptive poem about the college campus after spring semester when students have gone home and the campus is quiet without them. Nature is glorious in such quietness. It goes in its usual pace.
thank you, bharati. i didn't know the poem posted; i tried yesterday but seemed to have troubles with ph. i made some changes this morning. i often tinker with a poem for a while. blessings! -gk
a nicely descriptive poem of a moment in time set in a serene setting? ............well written Glen.
hey, tom! thank you for reading and commenting. semi-retired, i'm a substitute teacher during the school year, and lately i've had a number of assignments at a middle school close to the university of new mexico campus. it was interesting- and refreshing- being there yesterday so soon after semester's end. you might also like, if you haven't already read it, my poem semi-retired in early spring. the best to you! -gk
Wonderful landscape of a college campus after the spring semester coming alive juxtaposing another fascinating scene from the expanse of nature. Thanks a lot.
thank you, rajnish, for reading and commenting on my poem. we've had an exceptional spring here in terms of moisture in our high desert climate and the variability in weather (hot, cool, rainy, dry) . if you haven't read it already, you might also like my poem titled semi-retired in early spring. be well! -gk
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
I love that too
Thanks, LeeAnn. It was cool to see this when I walked over to the University of New Mexico campus between classes at a nearby middle school. Be blessed! -Glen
