Lusting Decadence Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Lusting Decadence

Spoiled.
By a doing as one pleases.
Lusting decadence, greed and selfishness.
Knowing nothing about sacrifice.
Or leaving behind material possessions.
To be at the comfort of someone else.
Expressing a caring for them with a focus.

People into themselves,
Are incapable to do that.
Even in the midst,
Of a life threatening epidemic.
Spreading the World over.
And close enough to knock,
On every door in all neighborhoods.
Including their own.
The only thing on the minds of those spoiled,
Is when they can return to a normalcy.
That is being made inconveniently lived,

Staying 'socially distanced'.
Done to protect themselves and others too,
From either becoming ill.
Or worse...
Die from a virus.
The 'greeding' to feed themselves' people,
Taught to believe,
The Universe is their domain.
Are showing to expose,
The kind of mindlessness that has been,
Kept prioritized.

This...
They can not temporarily do.
Care for others.
Even to pretend it.
Because of their addictions to lusting...
Decadence, greed and selfishness fed,
To heads vacant of thought, consciousness.
Or caring for others.
Without being stopped to be reminded,
People these days suffering in pain...
Heartbroken with promises to remain that way.
Are called 'Human Beings'.
And not commodities to watch,
Stocks drop from an inflated economy.
Only the elite are capable to keep deceived.
