Majority Rules Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Majority Rules

Rating: 5.0

Listening to hear,
What one wishes to be heard.
For many may take years.
To understand.
And to comprehend,
What should be given...
Undivided attention to listen.
Are the words spoken.
Yet...
Ears left closed.
Stay determined not to open.

It is the fear of truth,
That leaves...
The majority of unruly people,
Ruling in protest.
Bringing civil unrest,
Into the streets.
And...
With a doing to defeat truth.
Done not to hear it.
Or have it again presented,
To have successfully defended.
A truth for them,
Not to exist with it to end!
Permanently to delude,
A fictionalized quality of life...
Forever permitted to live it.

'What has happened to truth? '

May lies to tell,
And deception to sell...
Forever reign and destroy,
Whatever democracy...
And it documented has meant!

'This is...
Preposterous! '

Explain that...
To those,
Known to be 'hippopotamus'.
But today...
They are labelled,
'Rhinos'.
And Zebras identified,
For their black markings.
Have begun to have it told,
They are 'Albinos'.
Living for acceptance.
Hoping that approval is given!
