Materialism versus Nature. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Materialism versus Nature.

Rating: 5.0

Whether excess or scantiness,
the outcome is the same,
DECIMATION.
This holds true
in every situation.

A balance and compromise
between the two
is the key for prolonged
and meaningful sustenance.
We, the humans, understand
the same from our school days,
but even with intact brains suffer
from anosognosia,
continue rapid, reckless
destruction of our natural
resources, pushing aside
our learnt laws of Nature
to end blissful
maintenance and continuance.

Our never-ending craving
for material prosperity
has blinded us to do
all evils by sacrificing altruism,
heading for irreversible,
deadly imbalance.
The seemingly good looking
present civilization is already
deeply starving at its root
exactly like the girdled
luxuriantly grown
gigantic tree
without showing symptoms of
degeneration in the shoots,
but really diseased at root,
cautioning us the onset
of a catastrophic non-existence.
