Maze Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Maze

No one can survive these days,
Staying full of anger.
Heating up into a crazed madness.
Without prayers to say.
And deep faith remaining,
To be consciously aware of it.
This madness can not be,
The new normal to accept.

'Something' beyond our control,
Has got to know...
This diseasing sickness must go.

Eliminating negativity.
Directing everyone through...
A maze of obstacles, conflicts and confusion.
Seems to have a purpose.
As if a test to create upheaval and unrest.
To ensure this needless kept mindset,
Gets to the point...
When protesting becomes an exhausting process.
Leaving everyone to accept and end,
The stupidity of racism and division.
Begun by those wicked.
Believing ultimately they will benefit from it.

But always back to God people pray.
To have obstacles to face eliminated.
Wanting with a wish to have them erased.
Yet still that faith.
And the power prayer has people refuse to use.
Going through that maze everyday.
Hoping a miracle will come their way.

Don't give up on your faith.
Keep it kept stronger with your mothers.
Fathers, sisters and your brothers.
Neighbors, friends and relatives all.
With a getting up off your knees.
God did not bless anyone with life,
To endure anguish, pain.
Or have on knees crawl.
Legs are meant to stand on them.
Done to walk.
Head up and tall.

Don't give up on your faith.
Someone prayed to have a child of their own.
Or no one would be here,
To moan and groan.
Condoning the conflicts, confusion.
Racism and hate.
Not to appreciate,
What God has done or the blessing of life...
Received to achieve,
The best of ignorance and stupidity.
No one can doubt this.
Everywhere is the pettiness.

And for what?
Image or the imitation of it.
Pretentiousness to charade.
Isolated addresses fenced in and gated.
Instigating jealousy and envy to create.
When all it takes is an earthquake,
Flood, tornado or hurricane...
To come and all that stuff is gone.
Leaving the people dazed.
Praying to find their way,
Through a man-made maze seeking the exit.
