Me Then, You Now - Poem by Jennie Chester

I once was a girl
Whose heart never knew
The feelings she’d grow,
That would branch out to you.

I once was a girl
Who’s love stayed inside,
Because your heart turned away
Every time that she tried.

I once was a girl
Who you looked at and saw,
A girl with no soul
Who you didn’t care for.

I once was a girl
Who thought she’d never forgive.
The way that you died
And no longer would live.

I once was a girl
That I wish you’d have known.
That you would have loved
And not ever left her alone.

I now am a girl
That you’ll never kiss.
You had your chance,
And you’re chance you have missed.

You’re now a boy
Who is feeling rejection.
The girl that I was,
You’re now her reflection.

Now that you watch
Me from above,
You’ve grown those feelings.
Those feelings of love.
