Monsoon Rainy Day. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Monsoon Rainy Day.

Rating: 5.0

Shower after shower,
Scary roars of thunder
Sometimes slow falling drops,
Sometimes cats and dogs.

Repeated lightening sparks
in the horizon,
Keep people inside their homes.
No body dares to go out,
Roads almost empty,
no traffic sound.

Bazars and shops have
a deserted look.
Roads are not visible
for a steady walk.

Serenading croaks of male frogs
from the nearby
ponds and drains.
Keen competition among them
to advertise mating games.

Snails, leeches and worms
of diffrent sizes and kinds.
Start their foraging,
sans caring rain and wind.

Wind speed sometimes less,
sometimes more.
The leaves and branches swing
to and fro.
Rustling sound of leaves,
pit-pat of falling drops
and the resulting music.
Extremely relaxing with
a plate of hot Pakodas fried deep.
