My Service Forgotten? ? ? Poem by Jaishree Nair

My Service Forgotten? ? ?

Rating: 5.0

I heard them whispering;
Guessed today was my day!
The doomsday of all life,
My fate decided by the living Gods.

I can see them now.....
Coming with the deadly weapons,
A leer of insanity of demons seen
God forgive them for their ignorance..
For digging their own grave!

They know not the result of such deeds...
Destroying the very earth they walk on...
Geniuses they claim to be...
Idiotic their deeds prove.

Compassionate they proclaim to be
Actions other wise prove to be...
Mindless of my bleeding heart
My service forgotten? ? ? ? ?

It has taken a decade for me to grow;
I have provided shade to weary travellers.....
I have borne fruits to the needed....
My service a boon to man....
My bleeding heart they see not....

Animals in human disguise
Never realising the drastic consequences.......
Of cutting me down.
The vengeance of mother mature
Whose patience put to test
Only ends in disaster....! ! ! ! !

If only a sense of realisation dawns......
To make amends! ! ! ! ! ! !
If only.......If only........! ! ! ! !

A tree cannot plead for itself. A poet can put it in words as gathered in the lines of this poem. Hope these words will change their mind.

A fantastic poem, straight to the point, very intense. Humans destroying our forests and trees everywhere for no apparent reasons, taking away wildlife's homes, robbing us of shade and from the fruits we so deliciously love to eat. A very sad tribute to the tree and it's destruction by man.

The Earth devoid of trees cannot be imagined! It will be dull and dreary! Where will our feathered friends build their nests then and how will man enjoy the 'yummy' fruits so palatable to his mouth! Enjoyed this sad soliloquy of the tree, about to be cut down!
