Nation Needs Leaders

Our nation needs a few good men
With fine moral fibre
Who'd model as statesmen
Men of impeccable character
Men who'd not be mob-swayed
Courageous men with firm values
Who'd defend Rights, not betray
Leaders who'd lead, not follow cues

Our nation needs Fathers
Some high caliber mentors
Like Tengku Abdul Rahman
Like Tun Tan Siew Sin
Like Tun Sambanthan
Like Tun Ong Yoke Lin
Like Tun Dr. Ismail Abdul Rahman
Like Tun Hussien Onn

Leaders cannot be breeders
Of headless men of greed
Paid to be dissenters
To trigger strife, cause mischief
Disdain iron-fisted leaders
Who wield power and authority
Who arrest brave whistle-blowers
Blind the throng with their "infallibility"

We need honest financial stewards
Not rent-seekers, not percentage takers
We need patriots, not men asking for rewards
Men who build the nation as peace-makers
Who'd do away with extremism
Visionary leaders who'd strive for racial unity
Men who'd stem out bigotry and racism
Leaders who'd not compromise on security

Who would carry the flag of our nation?
Be patriots to live out our Malaysian dream?
Be sons fighting for our next generation?
Few good men who'd die to deliver our dream?
